Default Brake Pad Question

I had noticed more brake dust on the right rear wheel than the other three. Today, that brake went metal to metal. On disassembly and inspection, the outter pad was gone and the inside looked new. The other three wheels looked new. Miles on brakes 20,000. Question is this. Was it a bad pad or a stuck caliper. I did clean it up real well and dropped a new pad set on that wheel and seems fine but I was curious about that kind of wear. Any ideas?

Make sure that the slider pins are well greased, but not so heavily that they don't slide easily. Too much grease can keep them from releasing fully. It makes me think of slider pins with the outer pad since it is the floating one and the S-Type has a since inboard piston for the rears.

One of the slider pins was stuck. I did clean them and re-grease, so maybe that was it. I'll keep an eye on it for the next few months and see if the wear slows down. Thanks.

Yes, Torrid is correct. The caliper was unable to slide laterally due to a seized pin meaning that the pad was in constant contact with the rotor. Not rare
