I would always measure, there is no rhyme or reason to what Jag does at times. I have over the years seen stuff on cars theyre not supposed to have, and others that were supposed to and don't
That said, you can always use 300mm disc on the 320 sized but not the other way around. Ive seen it done believe it or not...The outer pad misses the rotor by 20mm, when you look for material left youll see a nice big ridge on unused pad
Funny thing is, no one has ever complained about the reduced braking or noticed
Brutal,

I guess the point of my question was, if you have 300mm rotors, and want to "upgrade" to 320mm, besides the actual rotors, what else do you need? The calipers and pads remain the same I assume, but what relocates the caliper to accomodate the larger rotor? A caliper carrier bracket or something?

I do believe Jaguar were the first road car in the world to use disc bakes and they were a Dunlop invention. Am I right here? Abt. 1953.

That's what I was trying to ask Brutal, what else besides the rotors do you need? Are the calipers different, are the pads different? - Is there a different caliper carrier bracket - to move the caliper outwards?

I think its just the carrier bracket if I understood one of his posts in here. it moves the caliper out.

The part numbers on the calipers apprear to be the same. in the NAPA catalogs.
(I work for Genuine Parts Co.) so I have access to many many catalogs.

HI,

good thread!

I need to change my Breaks! I need all rotors!

I want to order them, because I get them cheaper then my service garage..

I got an offer for ABS(name of the brand) rotors 320mm front and 286mm rear... I would get them + the pads for € 390 (about 530$)
do they fit my 2002 STR?

I somewhere read, it needs 355mm... I'm confused..

I also found this rotors! very cheap! all 4 Brembo max just € 180,-- can it be? Do they fit?

You need to find out whether you have the Brembo brakes, as the rotors & pads depend on that. This topic comes up quite often so use Search to find out what you want to know.

HI,

sorry that I ask, but english is not my native language, so its sometimes hard for me to use the search function!

Who can I find out, if they are Brembo, and which diameter? It's not in the manual... right?

No problem. But a search on:
Brembo
would likely work

The best way: any jag dealer can tell you.

If you post your vehicle details (year, etc) and last 6 positions of the VIN someone can probably figure it out.

That should be a 2002.5MY car and I'd expect it to have Brembo brakes. Front 365mm x 32mm (vented), rear 300mm x 15mm (solid) - but I've seen the rears claimed as 330mm so check those!

Not before you measure the rotors. No use getting the wrong parts.

HI,

Unforunately, I just can messure them with a ruler, cause I'm in the office right now..

But, messured from outside of the tires, it seems that they are biger then 320 respectively 300...

Isn't there a way to check it with the VIN?

Greetz
