Hey friends, I own a 2005 S Type R. It originally came with a Hand held telephone module. To go a step further, I purchased a BTUM (on eBay). Is it possible for me to disconnect the hand held unit from the plug just under the center console, and plug the BTUM socket in there and pair my mobile phone to the BTUM? Your advise is greatly appreciated.
As well as the BTUM you also need the bluetooth enabled phone module in the boot/trunk.
The wired handset module in the boot/trunk will not work with the BTUM.
Does your car already have voice control and/or a built in microphone?
If not you will need a microphone and the microphone audio link connector where the voice control module plugs in.
Please note that the older original S-type system does not work with some newer phones, you can only pair one phone at a time and it will only work with phone calls, not music or text etc.
If it is any help here is a link to the jaguar fitting instructions: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ne-install.pdf
The later 2009 X type and XJ bluetooth module is a lot better, it has far better compatabilitry with newer phones, it does not need the BTUM, you can pair more than one phone, it has a phone signal meter on the display but still only work with phone calls. This needs a bluetooth antenna and is a different size and shape to the original module. (I have this in my 05MY STR.)
