Default A/C clutch

My A/C clutch is inoperative in my 2005 s type 4.2. I jumpered clutch relay contacts with no luck. Then checked resistance from relay contact #5 (input to clutch coil) to ground, and read open circuit. An open coil is pretty rare. Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks,
Thad

Next step would be to crawl underneath and take a reading directly on the clutch coil.

Not sure about the S-type, but on other vehicles, I found I could get a complete reman compressor for little more than just the clutch.
