Default A/C Problems

Last issue on my 2005 STR with Nav - 80,000 miles

Symptoms
-AC blow semi cold on idle but blow hot when moving or rev - All Vents
-Climate Control doesn't work
-Heater work great!

Diagnose
-Checked Freon - Good
-Checked RCCM board and found a burn trace

Question
Can a bad DCCV burn the trace on the board?

Yes. It's well documented.

It's also repairable and you can install circuit protection to stop it from happening again. Jaguar did not design any protection in so if you run the car with a bad DCCV and it's drawing too much current the RCCM or CCM will eventually be damaged. It does take a while and many people have just changed the DCCV.

It's a DIY repair or you can pay to get it fixed along with the protection circuits.

UPDATE:
Did a quick jump on the trace (RCCM Motherboard) and only the passerger side had ICE cold AC. I remove the trace because obviously is a bad DCCV and the board was starting to smell.

I haven't found any post on how to replace the DCCV on a 4.2L SC STR. What is the best way to replace the valve from the top or bottom of the engine bay? please dont post the DIY on a 3.0 totally different spacing.

Changed the DCCV, fixed the RCCM traces and while I was at it why not put in a low temp thermostat from eurotoy ... Results ICE cold AC

DCCV used Motorcraft YG-378

some pictures of the action

Thermostat bottom bolt is a pain

Conclusion

Make sure you have this OEM/Hose clamp pliers (25246) | Hose Clamp Pliers | AutoZone.com and some flex socket with that been said I'm ready for summer
