Can factory Navigation be added on?
Hey everyone, I would really like to replace the air and audio controls on my 2005 S-type 4.2 with the Navigation.. Does anyone know if this is possible with the wiring? It will probably cost an arm and a leg but I just would like to check into it Has anyone done it before?

Due to the astronomical cost, those who check into it usually wind up purchasing a Garmin or Tom-Tom unit. A fraction of the cost, a much more effective system, and you can move it from vehicle to vehicle....
Now some of the smart phones out there are superceding the need for Garmins and Tom-Toms. Wait a couple more years and you'll be able to buy a $30 chip that plugs into your ear and whispers directions to you in the sultry voice of your choosing....

You are most likely right, I have it paid off though and with 50,000 miles on it I just would hate to trade it in yet. I can live without navigation it was more of a check in and see if its possible. I love everything else about the car besides Gaudin Jaguar Las Vegas service and some of the problems; but when you buy Jaguar you kind of expect to have some things go wrong through their reputation.

There are existing threads about doing it so Search is your friend.
Also details on Jaguar Forum.co.uk • Index page and don't neglect the X-Type section there.
Hope to buy parts from ebay / wreckers as new are super-expensive.

It wasn't $30 bucks that's for sure but my wife has been suggesting where I should go for almost 30 years now. Sometimes it's sultry and others it's not ...

Here are the basics you will need.
New nav audio head unit with climate control
New climate control module
New nav drive for the trunk
Then there is the part about wiring that I don't know.
From what I've read, very expensive and complicated.
But it can be done if you absolutely need to.
