I don't think so. I'm under the impression that it is integral to the intake manifold and that it needs to be operating in order for the car to be drivable. Maybe I'm wrong; pull the belt off and find out?

why would you do that? took me 3 hrs to remove blower no special tools.power house in UK rebuilds start at under $300. Spinning Wheels in Fl very reasonable rebuild also.

Yes. I lost the idler pulley for the SC belt a while back. Bearing locked up and froze then threw the belt which got stuck and then torn in two by the spinning engine.
Drove the car a week plus while waiting on the parts. No problem, no lights on the dash except I kept trying to push my foot thru the floor boards!!!
Remember the STR has lower compression than the regular 4.2L so when you remove the SC you don't have much power at all.
