Cannot open Central Consol

Cannot open Central Consol
Am unable to lift lid on my central consol. Have had my 2002 s-type for 10 years and first time I have encountered this problem. Can slide my fingers under lid when slid back, but cannot feel anything to adjust. Brut force does'nt help either. Any ideas?
