i am just going to get straight into the point. so my 2005 jaguar s type r for some reason it is stuck in park but my shifter is stuck when try and put it park but it says its in park but i can move the sifter into drive and reverse and neutral but it wont actually put it into neutral or drive or anything else. also my key is stuck in the ignition. also is there way you can put a s type into neutral without the shiftier working

 

Inspect the two mounting bolts where the shift cable attaches to the transmission. These two bolts are notorious for backing out and causing the exact symptoms you have. Details in this service bulletin:

Is the P red?

 

Only usually happens if you eat a lot of beetroot. If it happens at other times, seek immediate medical attention.

For real now, if the Jgate does not have red lights by the selected position, the connection to the tranny is bad.

 

Any updates? I mean the car, not the red P, although I hope that’s gone back to normal.
