I removed my rear shocks to install new bushing, now I have a 'CATS fault". I did start the car with the shock wire disconnected as I read others posts that was a no-no. Too late now. I read many other posts that states I need to go the the Jag dealer to clear fault. Is that still the way or has anything new surfaced?
2000 Jag S-type 4.0

Hi John
I have a 2004 x350 so not an expert on s type.
If you have a scanner try just deleting the DTC
or if not try disconnecting both battery leads and touch them
together for 15 secs.
You will need radio code afterwards and may reset 'one touch'
on windows.
Cheers
Update on the Cat Error. I took car to local mechanic who scanned the system. He found an 'open throttle' error. I told him I replaced the gas peddle last year so he cleared that error. He could not reset the 'Cat' error. He did give me another error a flashing 'spinning tire'. I took car to another guy who got rid of the cat error and could not get rid of the spinning tire. Does anyone know what the flashing tire meaning and how to eliminate? Attached is video of flashing tire along with a pic and the 2nd guys computer screen.

The spinning Tyre, Is the DSC unavailable because clearing all codes has cleared the calibration of the DSC of the ABS system.
The DSC / ABS needs to be recalibrated with IDS or by the dealer.
"Do not be tempted to clear All Codes." or the DSC codes or bad things will happen!!!.
NOTE: Control module calibration using PDU is required when the fault is repaired and the DTC is cleared. MIL will flash to indicate that configuration is required.
Thanks for the response. Not sure exactly what you mean but it appears I will need to head to the Jag dealer. I hope they know what to do. To me it should be a simple job but I will let you know what they say.

Simply put. The software which ties the ABS and the Dynamic stability control together has been wiped. ( Software removed, cleared, etc)
I dealer, is probably your last resort, unfortunately.
An independent Jag specialist garage, who still has the early IDS and V130, can recalibrate this in less than 30min. Know what their doing, and cheaper. Best option.
Or indeed any Jaguar Forums member local to Michigan, who has the IDS and V130 on their laptop would be another option. Would is available and can run the set up to recalibrate the DSC??? hint hint....
Most other non Jag independents, have updated their diagnostics, to the latest revision, and no longer have the Jaguar IDS easier and simpler stuff.
But Yes it is simple, for anyone with the IDS V130, and can communicate with the car and run the calibrate option.
Phone around first and see if they can make sense of the above.
Apart from and flashing light on the dash, and no set speed cruise control everything should work as normal.
I did notice the cruse control was not working today, it turns on but doesn't engage. I will take you advice and call around to see if a local repair shop has the software you referenced. I did see an old Jag at two of the repair shops close by so I will start there.
