I have a 2000 S-type 4.0 that I purchased not running. I have since repaired quite a few things and it is now running fine. I have just received the Cats System Fault error. First what is this telling me and second how do I reset it. I have taken it to a mechanic that has tried to reset it with not luck. Can someone help me.

To get started, Search on:
CATS fault
or on
cats system fault

 

Cats module is on the left side of the trunk in the spare tire bay. It actually says it on it. Make sure there is no water in there that could have shorted it out.

If it has never worked, you more than likely need a new module.

 

Thanks for the replies. I did do a search before posting but could not find anything informative. I have located an ADCM control unit in the spare tire area. Is this what your are taking about? Excuse my ignorance as I am a real S-Type Rookie, but what dose the cat system control. Is this a major thing or something I can leave until later?

 

One more thing can someone suggest a good manual to purchase?
