Lightbulb Power Folding Mirrors

Hi
My 03 S-Type's near side power folding door mirror is now juddering whilst folding out, has anyone ever greased/lubed the mechanism on one of these?
If so could you please tell me how to strip the mirror down to get to the drive area.
Thanks
Adrian

Be aware the we did not get the power folding mirror option in the US. I have heard that maybe a few cars shipped to Canada did. So not many people on this board will have any experience. I wanted to add this option and one person did. But it looks like one more wire needs to be added to the harness and feed through the door and other tight places.

Thanks jagmadjohn.
Was that from the outside between the housing and arm or the inside?

from the outside, I did remove the plastic cover but there's no need as you still lube the joint from outside its easy with the tube you get with the wd40, I had a clean rag to catch any over-spray plus used switch until I had smooth operation (mine was sticking now and then)

I had a similar problem which was solved by gently moving the mirror backwards and forwards. Lots of grit and salt came out of the gap where the mirror moves and after that it was fine.

Thanks for your replies, with a combination of both techniques it is now a lot smoother.
I am a bit surprised with the cost of a replacement no one seems to have stripped one down or said it couldn't be done!
Perhaps a future project if mine finially calls it a day:-(

Someone probably has but remember people here are mainly from countries where that mirror was NOT available. Try the .co.uk forum you were directed to previously.

Hi
Yes looked there as well and it would seem that no one in the UK has stripped one either!
