CCV change and smoke
Saturday I changed my crankcase vent valve on my 4.2 engine. I used an aftermarket one from Amazon. I finally went wide open throttle today and noticed a big cloud of smoke coming out of my exhaust. I then got a check engine light blinking with a code of cylinder 8 misfire. I've read other places that changing the crankcase vent valve with an aftermarket one may do this. I put the old one back in because I realized there was nothing wrong with it. Still did the same thing. is it possible that I might just need to get the oil blown out of the exhaust? The color of the smoke looked to be grayish. It never did this before until I changed that part. Anybody else have this happen?
If the MIL is flashing, catalyst damage is occurring.
Is the DTC stored in the system P0308? If so, find and correct the misfire by removing the coil unit and spark plug to check their condition.

The check engine light went away after 30 seconds. It only occurs on wide open throttle. We're going to inspect the spark plug and coil. I was just reading some reviews on Amazon about the crankcase vent valve that I bought and a couple other people said their car smoked as well.
