Question Changing tail light bulbs.

Hey everyone.

I was wondering how to get access to my tail light bulbs. I want to change my signal lights from the bland "yellow/amber" bulbs to cool "hyper white or LED ones". I have a 2001 S-type.

Thanks

It's pretty straight forward. You will need to remove the trim at the trunk latch. Remove the plastic anchors on the side of the trunk and pull pack the trunk carpet. From the back of the taillight you will see a white backing plate. There are two clips that release the backing plate from the lens. All the bulbs will be in their sockets. If you search this forum there is a post that has pictures. I don't know if I would trust putting LED bulbs in any of the sockets since they are controlled by some fairly sensitive relays and controllers. Again, search this site, there are a few posts from the techs that outline some of the dangers of "getting it wrong". If you do put in the LED's , let us know how you make out.

I agree. As sensitive as the electronics are in these cars, you'll need to be very careful if you deviate from the specific bulb types and wattages specified in your owners manual....
