Default Cigarette lighter not working

The cigarette lighter in the front ashtray isn’t working but the light around it is on. Those can’t be running off different fuses can they? Any idea which fuse it is? Thanks for your help!

Lighting is on a separate circuit, so don't let that confuse you.

Wiring diagrams here, see figure 19.1 for the lighter:

For fuses, check F56 and F2 in the trunk.

Does your car also have the Power Point, in addition to the lighter receptacle? If so equipped, and Power Point works normally, that means control relay R10 is working. If the Power Point is also dead, check relay R10 and control fuse F26 at the Primary Junction Box. This small fuse box is inside the cabin, just outboard of the US passenger's feet. For the relay itself, the easiest way to check it is to swap with a known-good relay of the same size, such as R7 for the blower motor.

If a known-good relay is no help, do the click test. Place your finger on the relay and have a helper turn the key to the Run position. You should feel the relay click. Be careful, as several other relays may click at the same time, so make sure you feel R10 clicking, not an adjacent one.

If the lighter is still dead, have you tried some other device in the socket?

Thanks Karl! I'll give those a shot! I tried plugging in a usb port and it didn't' work so I tried the actual cigarette lighter and it didn't work. I'm glad to hear the light is on a different system. I don't see a power point but I'll look more closely.

If you have a center armrest storage area check in there for a power point. On my 06 the ignition has to be in postion 1 or 2 to energize the lighter or power point in the armrest

Default Fuse for cig lighter

I had same problem. The 10-amp F56 fuse change did the trick 😃👍
