Default Climate Control problems

Hi.My climate control on my 2002 S-type has become unresponsive and
only pumps out very cold air or very hot air. I'm told I need a
Airduct chamber – Part # XR832147. Where does it go? Does that
sound right
Any help greatly appreciated

I can't confirm the part number but amazon or rockauto generally sells what we call the DCCV (common HVAC failure) the cheapest...

This link provides a little information on the heating system and it should help JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource I should note if you are low on coolant or you have an air pocket in the coolant system it will give you the same symptoms.

Default Climate Control Actuator

Hi. Thanks for the replies.I've be able to work out my fault is
with the actuator situated on the top right of the clmate conrol
box. Can anyone tell me how to remove it.Pictures would be great.
I went to the local dealer and he frightened me with talk of money-
lots of it- to get this fixed, so I thought I'd have a go myself.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers- John

Be careful and double check that is the problem. It has never been reported and the symptoms point directly to the DCCV.

If you use the link you will see photos that you are looking for. But be sure it is your DCCV before replacing.

Gus may have a NOT missing there...

I'm really doubtful it's anything except the usual: DCCV or else the module. What real evidence for a weird diagnosis?

Thanks All for the response. JagV8 asked what evidence for the diagnosis: (and bear in mind I'm new to this) I took the car to a Jag Dealer and paid them to put the
dianostic computer on it. The information that came back was that the
Airduct chamber – Part # XR832147 was at fault. When I asked for more information i was told that the 'Top right hand actuator' had failed and that if i could find a replacement, it would be a way cheaper option.
That said, I'd be very happy to find I didn't have to get in behind the dash.
Any thoughts? Cheers, John.

Chances are they will be right.
I think you will find this thread interesting, https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-me-out-49227/ It could be worth checking the sensors before diving in too far, it does help if you resemble a Chinese contortionist!

I think the problem is that he does not have full access and is unable to use the links. An introduction is in order.

Thanks folks. You have convinced me to check the DCCV thouroughly first. I'll get onto it over Easter.
By the way, What do you mean by introduction? What do I need to tell you?
Cheers, John

All new members are to give and introduction in the “New Member – Intro a Must” and that can be found under the listing of “General Jaguar Forums”. At that point the Administrator will see your post and then grant you full access to the forum normally after a few posts.

I'd read the info that has been linked to earlier thoroughly before you dive in.

I had trouble with the climate control too. Not much adjustment either too cold or too hot, nothing in between.
replaced the Evaporator sensors with $13 Motorcraft units.
Climate control works like new!

My '03 used to put AC on the windshield no matter what setting I had it on. My local repair shop (not the dealer) send the control unit off, and it came back working great. Good luck.

Still growling here, lost my mate a while back and retired the X300 with the driver window inop, now battery has gone bad from inattention,, Just picked out a '02 Model S for a new love, got a decent deal, pristine titanium with climate control issues, was either hot or cold lo got the A/C freezing, anything else was heat, defrost and vent changes work as intended, now we have another hot spell and no cold air on lo temp setting only outside air with a whiff n puff of blend door heat (so I think) I first thought that it was the blend door, and now that I have been driving it for a week (I now have an extra, extra, extra, extra car), the cloth car wash took the mascot off, (replacement cable needed) So do I go back to the Town Car or do I make tracks and get this A/C going? (I like the bigger car but this one is nifty and noticed even here in Hollywood) aruggh. The boot lamp is inop, not the bulb, and the same for the fog lamps. Lemme at it, Any suggestions from ye minions of the Cat?
