Exclamation Code P0174

Took my Jaguar to AutoZone to have my check engine scanned. It came back with a P0174. Can anyone tell me what the issue might be or what needs to be fixed? I inherited this beautiful car from my soon to be in-laws, but my bank account can't afford the price of the dealership to fix it. Any and all help would greatly be appreciated.

Was the MIL on?

If no, it's an old code and can be ignored.

If yes, use Search

It's - Malfunction Indicator Lamp or your check engine light.

Was that the only code they found?

You don't want to go to the dealers with this, we had a member some years ago with a seriously modded XKR in Tucson and he had a shop he spoke highly of, I'll have a
look and see if I can find it.

Here's the info for your code:

Yes, the MIL is on, and the other code that came up is P1111.
I do know Falcon Works, they are not any less expensive than the dealer.

Someone is going to need to check the usual failure points for vacuum leaks on Bank 2, which is the LH side of the vehicle when viewed from the driving position. Since only one bank is setting a DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code), check the fuel injector wiring loom on that side. It's also a good idea to check the fuel pressure at the schraeder valve.

Use a smart phone to download and install the Torque app, then use a Bluetooth interface in the OBD port to check Short Term and Long Term fuel trims (STFTs and LTFTs). Fuel trims are a good place to start to determine the size leak you're looking for.

With patience and diligence, you can diagnose the problem and repair it yourself, if you're so inclined.

Do you have a suggestion on a good OBD port reader?
