Default Connecting direct to Battery

The OG says you should not connect anything directly to the battery. As the battery is so conveniently located in the boot it would be ideal to connect to for my power inverter & DVD player.
Other than potentilally flattening the battery I cannot see why you would do any harm. Or am I missing anything?

Yes, you can hook things up directly to the battery. Just install a fuse in the line and you will be fine. The only downfall, as was mentioned earlier, is that the battery will provide constant power so unless the device has a "turn on" wire to tell it when to turn on and off (connects to the ignition or other source that is only on when the car is on) then it will stay on all the time and drain the battery.
