Hello everyone I’m working on my 2000 S-type 4L I have a coolant leak coming from top of the engine. I have already replaced the thermostat housing and water pump and it is dry in front of the engine. It’s not the expansion tank that is dry. It gushes out when I pressure the system to 1 bar, before I start ripping into the top of the engine any suggestions or has someone seen this before?
I finally got around to removing the intake and found that nasty hose that was leaking. The part that transitions from the large diameter to smaller had unglued. Found a replacement on Amazon PN NRA3976AA NRA3976AA
While I have the intake off I will replace gaskets both upper and lower. I have the flat gasket for the throttle body to coolant manifold but I’m looking for the prong that goes from the coolant manifold to intake, anyone know what that is?
Perfect timing on this post. I think the same hose blew up on me today. Either that or I finally burnt the head gasket on my 2002 4.0. Getting a lot of coolant loss and stream from this same area. Will look into maybe this weekend or next and find out what’s going on.

Hopefully it’s just the hose, better than a head gasket but you do have to remove the intake. In Arizona I’m always leery about Messi g with anything plastic as it becomes brittle and breaks easily especially the electrical connectors.
Really hope so I’m going to get the intake off maybe Friday or Saturday. Is it an easy job? Anything to look out for
It’s not difficult just a bit tedious. You will have to take off the thermostat housing to be able to slide it forward. Of course be careful with the connectors, my are brittle and break easily. You can you will have to disconnect all the injector connectors but can leave them in the intake. You will disconnect the fuel line going to the fuel manifold.
Thanks for the manual. Disconnect tool just arrived. Might take a stab at it tonight. Do you know what page of the manual I should look for? Also do you guys know how many bolts hold the throttle body in. Thx
Ok so I'm about 20% in on this manifold and my body is already aching. The drivers side is easy assuming there's three bolts plus this one. So eight bolts total? Lmk where to start with the throttle body. Fingers crossed I can get it done without bringing in reinforcements
No I meant this rusty torx screw lol. yeah for some reason I can't install jtis I will try again today and hopefully I can get this manifold off this weekend
