Default coolant recovery tank - bleeder screw

Greetings!

2005 S type with 4.2 N/A V8 - I just replaced the coolant recovery tank [typical cracked nipple] and noticed the bleeder screw on the top of the tank in front of the nipple. I know that I read what this is for somewhere in the forum but I can not find the info at present. I filled the tank up to normal max position - started car increased rpms and turned heater on to max. After a couple of minutes turned off ignition and topped off the level again. It seems to operate just fine - did I miss a procedure related to the bleeder screw? Thanks in advance!

As you fill with coolant the bleed screw is left loose to vent air ...if you add more coolant you can loosen it to be sure air is expelled....do not loosen it with the car running or have the pressure cap off with the car running .,the vent is the uppermost fitting on the na cars....do not overtighten as they shear easily ...if you want to double-check your fill, loosen the screw on a cold engine and coolant should ooze out
