My 2001 3.0 liter S-Type has recently had it's cooling system bled for air pockets and is doing quite well overall. However, it still wants to eject coolant from the reservoir. Is this because there are still air pockets or is there an optimum level for the tank? Thoughts?

 

What exactly do you mean by "eject"?

Its a closed system. Are you saying that when you remove the cap it sprays coolant? If so, then the reservoir is too full. About half full is optimal.

 

No. I mean after the car sits for awhile it will expel some coolant from the reservoir without removing the cap. Have reservoir caps been known to fail at all on the S-Type?

 

I suppose a few must fail but it's very rare if so. We're not seeing reports like we do on other coolant issues (DCCV etc).

 

The coolant reservoir is likely cracked and leaking. Mine was cracked too and I've replaced it.
