Default Custom Intake for STR

I recently purchased a custom intake and installed a cone filter. I instantly felt an increase in low end torque and at WOT, the sound is incredible.
The intake pipe came from billetdesign.com in Pompano Beach.....

How's it do in stop and go traffic or sitting still? I would like one but I heard that they just suck in hot air while sitting still or barely moving...

Thanks,
Gabe

I do notice an increase in low end torque during stop and go traffic. I did keep the factory air cleaner intake pipe which does deliver air from the front of the car.

Looks nice without that OEM plastic air filter box!

I actually do have a heat shield, but I removed it when I changed the filter.
The intake pipe was a custom fabrication.

Nice professional looking job. Did you have to tweek the ECU or did it automatically adjust to your mods?

I have not tweaked the ECU. It should adjust, but I'm sure the car would benefit if I had the ECU tuned. The person who fabricated the intake pipe is also working on tuning the ECU.

Ya know, F-Body's and Vette's have a filter that goes from the throttle body, over the radiator into the front of the grill. I'm going to do some research. There has to be a way to get the filter in the grill somehow.

Let me know how that ECU tuning comes along, I live in Ft. Lauderdale and I've been trying to squeeze a little more power out of the little 4.2.. I've already built a custom exhaust and I'm having my TB and the eaton ported, and i'm working on modifying the stock intake, but I really need a tune.. The eurotoys chip sounds good on paper, but it's a bit pricey and I don't know how good there support is going to be if something bad happens...
