DCCV/CVM
Turns out, after much gnashing of teeth (one independent jag tech told me this could be a $7000 repair to replace the entire heater box, and then a B1265 DTC code referring to a blend door actuator part that isn't even in the 2005 S-Type) my issue was the DCCV/CCM issue that is so well documented on this site. The dealer wants C$2900 to fix it! I'm going to do the repair of both myself - many thanks to the great posts on the site on how to do it. Only question is how to put a diode (and of what spec) on the CCM that will prevent damage to the board the next time the DCCV sends too much current its way. Anyone know?
Chris,
I've moved your DCCV/CVM question from New Member Area - Intro a MUST section to the S-Type section. You should get a better response here from members with the same model.
Good to hear you're saving serious $$ with the help of the info on the forum.

To close this thread out, a "current limiting diode" might have done the job (not a simple flow direction control diode). In any event, I opted for a less elegant but hopefully equally effective solution: putting a 2A fuse between the pin and the Siemens BSP 78 chip on the board, replacing the burned trace. If the DCCV goes again, the resistance in the DCCV circuit will drop and the fuse should blow when the DCCV's resistance drops to 6-7.5 ohms, from the normal 14-18 ohms - thus protecting the CCM board. In theory.
Anyway, here's a link to the thread where this was all discussed: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...t-fault-94932/
Thanks to everyone for help and input.
