Denso Alternator Overrunning Pulley
Greetings All,
I recently replaced the alternator on my '02 V6. I went with a remanufactured unit from Carquest and all was good there:

In the process of searching for parts, I also picked up a spare alternator from eBay, advertised as a new take-off with zero miles. The original alternator had a tag XR83-10300-BC, and that what's the listing showed, both in text and in the pictures. However, when I received the package, it had a -CC suffix, not -BC as advertised. The box was labeled correctly, so it appears to have been a simple mistake of the wrong part in the box.
The -CC has an overrunning pulley, while my car's -BC had a solid pulley. From what I gather, the overrunning pulley was only used on cars with a manual transmission. My car, with an automatic, uses the solid pulley. This unit is only a spare that I picked up because of the great price, and will hopefully sit on a shelf for years. I'm trying to decide whether to send it back. Does anybody know if the overrunning pulley version could be used with an automatic? Or would the -CC work if I swapped pulleys? I'm wondering if the version intended for a manual transmission has a slightly different controller or something like that, or if the pulley is the only difference. Physically swapping pulleys looks easy enough with the right tool, so that doesn't appear to be a problem.
