Default Diesel transmission oil cooler - service action

I was on the internet when I found a suggestion my car had needed a recall. I emailed Jaguar UK and they said yes and to contact a dealer. I emailed them and they said it is a service action (recall in another name?) and it is to replace the oil cooler for the diesel transmission. It is going to be no cost to me and the dealer is going to pick up and drop off the car. So so far so good.

How bad an issue is this and is a service action just a way of avoiding issuing a full recall?

The diesel oil cooler has been known to leak into the tranny, destroying it. If this prevents that, you want it done yesterday!

Thanks jagv8. Could this be related to the occasional slight jerk when I come to stop?

Not the cooler. Could be "thelurch" (use google).

Thanks again. Googled thelurch, what a website! I would say I have a slight version 1 lurch. When I emailed the dealer that the car is going to for the cooler, I mentioned the lurch. It will be interesting to see what they say.

Well thats the job done. It took five hours so I am glad I did not have to pay. I mentioned the lurch and the servicing guy just looked blank. He said if it continues, which it has, to take it back. But at their hourly rate I dont think I will.
