Differential noise
I should note the car has 120,000 kmish, my roomate bought it from the original owner 2 years back, and I am under the impression that the previous owner bought it as a lease... Man was that oil dirty... Confirmed a 75w-90 for fluid, couldn't find a call for any specific friction modifiers... Anyone experince this kind of noise? Any recommended additives?
I should also ask where I might find this TSB? Would this still fit the scenario if the car is a 2001?
Here is the TSB:
TSB Number:205003NHTSA Number:10021035TSB Date:September 11, 2006Date Added to File:February 26, 2007Failing Component:
Suspension:Rear:Axle:Non-Powered Axle AssemblySummary:
Whine from the rear of the vehicle at 60 mph. Install a new axle assembly and axle housing bushing.
Not sure how far back it goes though. There was a re-design of the differential done earlier this summer that impacted both the S-Types and the new model XK series.
