Driver Door Module DDM - Does Not Communicate
At Jag dealer attempting to program remote keyless entry fobs. Service tech was unable to communicate with Driver Door Module (DDM). He is assuming a failure in the DDM. I do not believe he removed the inside drive's side door faceplate to visually inspect the DDM unit.
I was informed that only a new DDM for the vehicle, not a used DDM, is required to effect a repair.
Questions:
1) Is the above true concerning only using a "new" DDM replacement unit.
2) Is there a list that correlates year make, model and VIN number with a part number for the DDM in my vehicle.
I have part# XR83115000D-(some extra digits relating to my model/make etc)
3) Is it difficult to remove the door faceplate in order to inspect the currently installed DDM?
4) I understand that the dealer needs to preform the reprogram. Is it best to have dealer do the entire work order?
TIA

Welcome to the forum Stoney, don't forget your intro in the new members section.
I don't know for sure about module compatibility so won't comment.
3) The door card is fairly easy to remove, search for threads on window regulator replacement.
4) The dealer or someone with the correct equipment has to do the programing, if you can confirm a new module is suitable I'd switch it myself and have them do the programing.

Dealer is blowing smoke! How does the car know if the module is new or used??
Now it might need to be programmed and several people have reported that. But I thought on the early cars it did not. Just not sure on this?
If I were you I would follow EBay and get a used DDM. Plug it in to see if it works. If not go to the dealer and pretend the DDM is the one that came with the car and get it re-programmed.
