Default At dyno now (PTuning)

At dyno now and will post new numbers soon.

From 1/4 mile track results, the smaller 2.6 inch pulley helped just a bit when launching but diminished top end horse power. I hope to get in some cool weather runs in the next two weeks.

They mentioned another STR is arriving tomorrow to have a pulley installed. I believe they said his name was George?

That's me, but I'll be there on Thursday, not tomorrow. I'll definitely be taking videos.

I'm home now.

My post from earlier today was from my phone. I didn't realize that my normal signature would not be included. See below...

I will upload the video and dyno sheets tomorrow.

Is chp = horse power at the crank?

I believe too much power is just enough and I'm a long way from "just enough".

- Stock*
Except for Mina rear boxes/mufflers
337 hp and 318 trq

- Mod 1
No thermostat, no resonator, K&N drop-in air filter, Magnaflow hf cats and x-pipe
343 hp 327 trq

- Mod 2
Back to OEM cats and installed 2.6" pulley
349.4 hp and 340.8 trq

After 18 dyno runs on the same dyno with the same dyno operator, it appears nitrous or a twin screw may be the only viable ways to accomplish big power. I am looking at both options but leaning towards a 2-stage wet nitrous install. The first stage will be a 35 hp jet for first gear; the second stage will be a 100 hp jet for all gears beyond first.

Edit: Attached dyno chart 2.6 Pulley with Exhaust Mod vs Exhaust Mod only

There are two things you haven't done yet

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/j...le-body-79174/

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...-2l-s-c-80560/

Just curious, why did you got back to the stock cats?

Default Hi-Flow Cats

Ditto to Cambo. IMO, hi-flow cats would have allowed another 10+ hp.

bfgross,

The dyno numbers tell the story. When I deleted the resonator, installed the hf cats and x-pipe the dyno showed only 6 hp MAX. So my vehicle did not achieve a 10 hp increase from hf cats.

From my dyno experience and using the hf cats at the the track for several months, the hf cats were more of an increase in "great sound" than hp or torque.

Depending on how the cats are mounted, they can keep a bit of heat away from the engine bay. Those cats sounded AWESOME but didn't last for me. Mine blew out and have not been able to get a replacement or refund to date. I have sent 5 emails so far with not one response.

Cambo351,

Thanks for the suggestion as we are all in the same boat in the search for more power.

I searched and read through threads this morning regarding boring out the throttle body from 75mm to ~80-81mm. I likely missed something since I did not see the cost or dyno results showing this modification is actually worth doing.

I went back to the stock cats because the hi-flow cats failed.

So for the time you had hi-flow cats you got a 6 hp increase and great sound. I recently considered going back to OEM cats cause I'm tireing of the sound. Trying on stock rear boxes to see if this helps. It's tough getting money back on blown hi-flow cats. Sorry to hear.

Ditto, I think the stock 75mm throttle body can support 600 chp on this small V-8. Avos's twin screw 4.2 belts out 635 chp with stock exhaust, TB, etc. Tuner companies will promise the stars for stock displacement motors.

These cars kill me. Brutal was right, twin screw or nitrous are the only ways to make HP on these. Stock these cars put down 330ish, and with all the mods 1320 did he is only up 20ish rwhp
