My particular Jaguar doesn't have all the bells and whistles and I prefer it that way. Less to go wrong and I concentrate on driving, which is what the car really excels in.

Lazy perhaps. Rather than do a query by VIN and then send out the mailers, they just sent it out to all Jaguar owners.

But ... it also utilized a centrally mounted touch screen that had such a myriad of obscure as well as obtuse control modules for absolutely everything on the car. I could not safely operate it without pulling over. My wife spent a lot of time going through a whole lot of menu levels. Nothing was intuitive about this. Getting lost was the order of the day. Oh the Jag's is much simpler and though I have a few complaints it is light years easier to operate than Ford's new system. Savor our good blessings friends ...
So then when I get home I see Ford's new ad for this system in which a woman says how it's just so wonderful. "It's like driving a computer!".
Exactly right! Alt Ctl Del and away we go ... LOL And it's all Microsoft too!

Mike,
Take heart my friend, I am receiving the same "update your Nav system now" mailings from Jaguar and our car does not have Nav either. So much easier, more accurate, and far less costly to use our 2009-era Garmin unit or my wife's iPhone. There's simply no good reason these days to spend the excessive money for ANY automobile's factory Nav unit....

Just kidding.... I agree... except I did just what I said above. It was so cheap that I couldn't turn it down... Plus just the radio part is way better...

Me either and Jag DOES know that I own the car as I've made a few warranty claims. Perhaps they've done the database search exactly backwards and only the cars without Nav are being notified? Stranger stuff has happened ...

My Dealer knows that I have my Jaguar, and sent me a notice of "Factory Required Service". I'm afraid to ask how much that will set me back, heck, after hearing all of the nightmares on the Forum, I', afraid to disconnect the battery and replace it when IT fails! I can change the oil though, and the car doesn't seem to notice-neither does the Dealer.

I've found that Google Maps' live traffic isn't all that live. I have it on my Blackberry and frequently it shows traffic in green on the display when in reality I'm at a dead stop. I have used to try to find bail-out routes if there is an accident on my commute route, but since DC area traffic is so bottle-necked, it's not of much use. Everyone else had the same idea I had.
