Ok, so I did a whole bunch of module scans today on the car and for the SRS which is the airbag control stuff got a bunch of codes and there's a thing that says I have a short so I'm going to post pictures and see if anybody can help me out on that before I start taking apart more modules
on the car, can anyone tell me since it says that I have a short where I could locate the wire to trace it to see where I possibly have a short is it somewhere from under the dash or under the driver seat or is it something located in the boot any help would be greatly appreciated thank you all
Thank You scottjh9!
I was not looking for the bulking tumbler! No wonder I could not find any mention of it!
What a term and I have never heard of it either. I wonder how they came up with that idea too?
looks like mine. But that doesnt answer the question
looks are deceiving on these little dudes. The flap actually fold back as the key is inserted and is held by the upper shank of the key. It also keeps the key from flopping around. The way i finally figured i needed a different flap was by using a small screwdriver and pushing the flap in with the door open to get the chime on. It was so little difference between the key itself and screwdriver push it is unmeasureable. The only thing i noticed when comparing the two flaps was my original was slightly bent for a hair more curvature. That made sense because my gdaughter horsed the key side to side a couple times and that is when it started
This is what it looks like now after over a year since the fix. About 3/4 covered

Look at the two areas in the pictures that I posted. I see something between the two ICs in the first pic and some debris maybe in the 2nd.
as for the fuse blowing, think about what you might’ve touched in the trunk area right before it happened. You may have caused a short or pinched something while looking around.
The aftermarket scanners don't tell you the whole story. If using the Jaguar SDD system it will tell you what date and mileage the error occurred at. So it's easy to tell what the others are mentioning which are "historic" codes verses what are current "active" codes.
.
.
I have NEVER been successful in getting SDD to show the date or mileage when displaying codes. It always has a - or its blank. Could it be because I have a script that changes the computer date to something like 2012 so SDD wont try to make me update it?
whats the secret to get the date and mileage displayed?
Hi all, sorry no updates to report yet, it seems that everytime im off work it's raining, I promise, I will be back with answers or maybe more questions...lol, thanks again
