emissions test code p1633
Good grief! You've not got a big enough population to make different pollution tests justifiable per province! (If they are anywhere.) Must be some big egos but small brains somewhere near the top
Do you have P1111 displayed and nothing else?
Oh ya and the seat moves again and theres no check engine light on the dash. Cant believe I didnt spot it sooner. Then again it happened in the dead of winter so I probably woulda waited till it warmed up out anyways to get to the bottom of the CEL & P1633 code which aside from the seat moving had no effect on performance. Crazy how a .20 cent fuse can be so frustrating.
We have about the same population in the Metro Toronto/Golden Horseshoe area as Scotland--we could have our own country if we wanted!
Really our emission testing has not bothered me--my cars have always passed so far. It is really just another tax!
My beef is that I have gotten so used to the clean air that when I travel to some places I find breathing the air somewhat obnoxious.
Just as a matter of interest, I had to test my 2004 S-Type 6 weeks ago. Since my car was winter stored with the battery removed I had some concern with how much driving it would take to get all the systems ready. I drove about 80km.It was fine
Here is a bit of a trick with the DriveClean program conditional pass. They will run a diagnostic & quote you for the repairs, and you have to spend "up to $450" in emissions repairs. However, if there are no individual repairs they can do for less than $450, you only pay for the E-test, diagnostic fee, and second E-test (50% off if done at the same location).
I recently got a conditional pass with codes P0400 (EGR), P0442 (small evap leak), P0456 (very small evap leak). For the EGR valve replacement they quoted $538, and the evap leaks $898 (replacing the charcoal canister behind rear crossmember).
Just had to pay $210 out the door which included the E-test, diagnostic, and smoke test of the evap system.

I'm glad to hear your car is OK.
You might hate the air in many of our big cities - OBD doesn't do a good enough job for diesels (hardly tests for NOx & PM - diesels kick out over 20 times as much NOx). I suppose it's because where OBD was designed they have few diesel cars so didn't face the terrible pollution we have.

I was born in Huddersfield and at one time was trained to breathe "industrial air"
I have been re-trained over the past 50 yrs to breathe clean air!
I got mine done at Sammy's Service Centre (Yonge & Eglinton). Have never been there before but I had a fine experience, very easy to deal with.
