Expert Please, VVT Solenoid Part Number and Model Differences
I just removed the solenoid in the 2001 V6 S Type vin ending fm09740. Unfortunately, it is the solenoid that I installed two years ago so I do not have the original part. My new and old parts carry number xr816235 and are from Terry's.
I am concerned because the side holes on the solenoid are at different heights but the holes in the cylinder head are at the same height. Is that correct? It seems odd because the cylinder head passages are too "deep" for the higher VVT solenoid hole. The oil could still get there but by flowing down a recessed window, but that seems to be an inefficient solution.
I want to confirm that I have the correct part before putting things back together.
Thank you.
Steve

Steve,
My parts listing shows UP TO M46254 Vin #:
XR85233, which is replaced by XR816235.
The difference, no ide.
Running "upgrades" are part of the Auto Parts system, and mostly they are to improve a part, but not always.
