Fault codes

I have a problem I have a 2000 s-type and i keep getting CATS SYSTEM FAULT & GEARBOX FAULT...the Gear box fault goes away after awhile but the CAT SYSTEM fault comes on when I start the car and some times goes off...Does anyone kknow how to clear these codes..and what do i need to do?

Do you have the actual code numbers? The text warnings are just to warn you that something is wrong and can be associated with different codes.
