Default Fiber Optic?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to tell if I have a fiber-optic radio on my 02' S-Type 3.0

How do I tell without ripping anything apart? I tried google, but came up with nothing of useful help.

Thanks!

I have looked at the below referenced wiring diagram, and the '02 S-Type DOES use optical fiber (called BOF in the diagrams) for it's entertainment system links.

You can get the full wiring diagrams, including those for the audio system at:

Hey Quad,

Thanks for getting back to me on this! I have yet another question. I've been told that I can't mess with the sound system (i.e. adding a better amp and 1 sub for better sound and less distortion). Have you, or anyone else had any experience with the fiber optic and such? I don't want to replace all the wiring and I'd like to use what's in place.

I have not dealt with the fiber versions of the Jag, but have with the copper audio version... Several of us have hijacked the audio signal just inside the CD changer to use as a AUX input.

Do you want to stay with the stock head unit? If so, I might suggest finding where the fiber signal is converted to standard audio (such as just inside the stock amp) and work with signals from that point forward. I can see how, by using these hijacked signals, one could feed them to a better amp, a subwoofer amp, etc., with a bonus that all the stock speaker wiring should be available at the same location.

The X200 does not use the D2B or BOF network. The 2002 electrical guide listed in the capnjaguar website is for the 2002.5 electrical guide which is the X203 (provisional). US models from 2000 to 2002 are X200 and the 2003 MY onward is the X203. The X400, X203, X350 and I think the X150 use the BOF type audio/nav network. The 2001/2002 electrical guides are identical because there were no changes. There are only 2 guides for the X200-----2000MY and 2001/2002MYs. When I worked at the dealer we were not issued a new electrical guide for 2002 but we were given an insert that was labeled 2001/2002 to add to the 2001 electrical guide booklet. Use the 2001 electrical guide on the website listed below as this is the correct one for the 2002 X200.

Thanks for the clarification... this should make it easier for Addiction - all copper audio signals. I must have downloaded the 2002.5 instead of the 2002. Looking at the 2002 diagram, it certainly looks like it's all copper.

Good job, catching my error.
