yeah i read the thread and figured i would see what mine do, and they come back on everytime regardless if it is manual or auto. But then again it is the 03 model

This legal requirement that the fogs shut off when you turn on your brights seems to me to be some bureaucrat not thinking about the situation properly.

The fog lamps are mounted low for a purpose. It's my experience that fog normally hangs 2-3 feet above the roadway. The fogs shine low to illuminate the roadway beneath the fog. If aimed properly, the fogs should not contribute to blinding an oncoming car, even with the brights on.

It wouldn't make sense except for the little detail that they omitted the front fog lamps on the R, starting in 2005.

Since it seems like all the post 05 non R cars are doing it, I'm inclined to agree with you. Its just one of those strange things that these cars do.
