Default Found the secret to new car smell

Get your windshield replaced! I had mine done this afternoon and my car literally smells like a new car inside, I can't get over it. I'm going to find the exact windshield sealant SafeLite uses and keep some in my car at all times to preserve the smell.

Mind if I ask what it cost? Does your car have auto wipers and heated glass?

Yes to the auto wipers but no on the heated unfortunately. I didn't pay for it, but the invoiced total was about $900. Start Farm glass coverage is great!

Forget the "new car" smell, I use Gliptone Liquid Leather conditioner, it has the smell of old English leather impregnated into it. Gives the interior the smell of an "old" classic Jag.
I have a 9" square piece of old leather under the passenger seat, which I regularly "top up" the smell on. Glorious.

I prefer to think of it as "eccentric"

Besides "erotic" is using a feather for pleasure. "Kinky" is using the whole chicken

Hey totalimmortal363!

Did you ever find out what sealant they used?

I'm hunting on how to get that scent again in my cars.

Make sure they sealed it properly as my windshield was replaced before I bought it (the car)...later to find the bottom wasn't sealed and water was getting through causing some electrical issues...I sealed it so it's good now.

Gliptone does have a nice 'leathery' smell. I like it. I use Lexol on my leather but then put a Gliptone-soaked cloth under the seat just for the smell.

However, IMHO, it doesn't actually smell the same as the leather found in the older Jags....50s-70s vintage. Those cars used the "Vaumol" leather from Connolly which had a very different aroma....and very pungent as well .

Cheers
DD
