Hi guys, hope you're all doing well. I'm still working through buying my friend's S-Type. It looks like it's going to happen in November!
I might have to get a new front bumper for the car. Looking around I came across the one below. I tried researching what are the two fins on the bottom but was only able to find random photos of cars with them and what appears to be added trim around the car. I couldn't find any info about it being part of a particular trim or MY. The S-Type I'm looking to buy is a 2005 V8. I really like the fins on the front bumper, but I'm not sure I like the rest of the trim around the car (my car doesn't have that trim btw).
Yes, you will need the later facelift front bumper. These can be spotted as they have thinner inserts. The hood and grill were also changed on the 05MY cars. The wings/fenders are however the same.
You can read all about the 05 model year (built from January 2004) updates in this official Jaguar document. The S-type starts on page 54.
If you want you can also look up the part numbers on the official Jaguar Classic Parts web site, you will need the cars VIN number as there are many changes:
OMG! Thanks Mellow!! That document is AWESOME! I've been trying to find a US MY2005 brochure to see what were the changes and new features that year and this document sheds a ton of light. BTW, those brochures are hard to find! I've looked everywhere online and can't find either a PDF or a printed version (looked on eBay for those).
