Front end lower control arm bushings problems....
Hey guys i have been getting a knocking noise for some time now. I decided to go to my locsl mechanic before i used my extended warranty at jaguar. My 2 big bushings in the front lower control arm have lots of play in them. I just had these replaced about 6 months ago and thr noise never went away. I thought it was something else bit came to look, it was the same bushings gone bad. Now i have a spare of 2 at home and by looking at them thry seem excally the same with no rubber what so ever. Im afraid of installing thrm and thr problem is still there. Is this a common issue? Any recalls or updated suspension control arms out there? Whats thr point of installing these bushings if thry have play in them? Thanks guys.
Use the warranty. Likely will replace entire arm(s). Nothing should go bad in that timescale so pester them to identify & fix the underlying cause. I'd put it in writing to show you've chased it before the warranty expires.
I will def do that. I still have about a little under 3 years on my warranty so im not in a hurry about it, but just the noise is annoying. I looked at the lower control arms pictures on the internet, and they all look the same, the same bushing in there. It just seems that something is not right.
go to carchex.com I purchased a extended through them a few months back. I believe I paid about 3,700 for a 3 year 36k. I pay monthly off 180 for 18 months and the down payment was about 300. I have already had about 6k in warranty work done at the local jaguar dealer. Really comes in handy and have not had a problem with them. If you do check them out ask for steve, and tell him Martin sent you.

No, go to Ford and check their PremiumCARE plan. I had one on my X-Type and they paid for EVERYTHING no question. I had all the service done at my Jaguar dealer and they nev'ah had any trouble getting Ford to pay for any repair they suggested. Ford even paid to replace one of the headlamp assemblies for the common failure of the plastic adjustment pieces inside. My dealer was amazed since Jaguar had never paid a headlamp claim to their knowledge.
Best part, I paid ~3200.00 for a 3 year plan and I believe the covered repairs added up to about $2600. So, in the best of possibilities, when I turned my policy in after getting my '08 4.2l last month, I would have expected to get a $600 refund (i.e., the difference between what I paid and what Ford paid out on repairs).
But guess what, I got $1200.00 back... :-) :-) :-)
Ford paid my dealer direct it was just like having a factory warranty. The dealer loved me because I was bringing a separate cash flow with me. My dealer never had to negotiate with Jaguar, who always either didn't want to pay, or paid only their book minimum amount. My dealer just told Ford what the job cost and Ford just paid...
Next February when my Jaguar Select warranty ends, I'll be paying a call to my Ford dealer for sure.

I have replaced everything in front suspension ie ball joints, sway bar joints etc and still have a clunking sound over bumpy roads. Sounds like a loose rattle. My mech suspects the shockers now so they are next, and almost last item to be upgraded. Paul
