Yesterday I finally ripped into my 2003 S-type R and removed the supercharger and upper manifolds to gain access to the fuel rails and injectors. The car has sat for almost 2 years with a bad #8 injector, because I have been dreading the day to start this repair. It took around 6 hours total to disassemble the top of the engine enough to remove the injectors. (It never gets easier to do this even with all the secret and special steps that everyone recommends.) Specifically removal of the EGR valve. - Many cuss words. Except this isn't what this thread is about.
Replacement Fuel injectors: FYI, I have spent almost the same amount of time researching replacement fuel injectors as it took to remove the supercharger.
Before I provide more details regarding fuel injectors, I will summarize 5 options I have regarding the fuel injectors/service
1. Reinstall 7 of the 8 injectors, and replace the 8th with one from another one of my old engines.
2. Mail in 8 injectors and have them rebuilt/refurbished. (Costs about $20 each.)(Plus shipping)
3. Purchase a set of "refurbished" Denso injectors. (Cost around $25 to $40 each.) (Some require a core, or add $10 to the price)
4. Purchase as new set of "unbranded" (look alike, who knows how they will perform and last, despite their claims that they meet or exceed OEM specs.) - Cost is about $90 to $160 per set of 8.
5. Purchase brand new-old-stock Denso /FOMOCO injectors between $160 and $200 each. (Gulp!)
I would like to get others experiences on the path they took regarding replacing/upgrading fuel injectors.

1. Does anyone have the flow specifications for these injectors? (Operating pressure, Ohm reading, Flow?)
2. Are we really stuck with only one choice of replacement injector? (Either Denso/FOMOCO, or some unbranded questionable injector?)
3. Has anyone found a comparable replacement that works from another vehicle, that works without changing the fuel trim programming?
4 This 12 hole, EV6 style plug, in this form factor/size was used on a lot of different cars. Has anyone found a swappable variation that works?

Reason: Trying to get rid of "spoiler "
Thanks for the link and recommendation that they are a good company.
I have been using this company's website as a reference to different injectors that might work on our engines. I wrote them on Thursday, but they have not replied to me.
Their website indicates that they do in injector cleaning, but do not rebuild them.
panpag injectors are close to 500cc at operating pressure (55psi) blue injectors are 400.
Plenty of used injectors from the wallet rovers, they used the old blue ones. or just tune it out
First time I've ever heard of a "36" engine here in the states. (What are your sources for this engine designation?)
Supercharged
The AJ33S is a supercharged/intercooled variant of the AJ33. It was introduced in 2002 to replace the 4.0 SC and produces 390 hp (291 kW; 395 PS) at 6,100 rpm with 399 lb⋅ft (541 N⋅m) of torque at 3,500 rpm. The engine was later updated to AJ34S specification to include Variable Valve Timing as well as other minor updates.
4.2-litre Supercharged V8 in a 2003 Jaguar XKR
Vehicles using this engine:
2004-2009 Jaguar XJR/Super V8, 400 hp (298 kW; 406 PS) and 408 lb⋅ft (553 N⋅m)
2003-2006 Jaguar XKR, 400 hp (298 kW; 406 PS) and 408 lb⋅ft (553 N⋅m)
2006-2008 Jaguar XKR, 420 hp (313 kW; 426 PS) and 410 lb⋅ft (556 N⋅m)
2003-2008 Jaguar S-Type R, 400 hp (298 kW; 406 PS) and 408 lb⋅ft (553 N⋅m)
2005-2009 Daimler Super Eight
2008-2010 Jaguar XF, 420 hp (313 kW; 426 PS) and 408 lb⋅ft (553 N⋅m)
What are "panpag injectors" No hits at all searching for panpag injectors. All three of my 4.2L AJ33S engines have dark green injectors and as far as I can tell they are rated at 330CC/MIN 100% Duty Cycle @ 43.5 PSI
Can you provide more details on the Rover "blue" injectors?
panpag is about the variant of the (Denso) PCM.
As time went by the PCM got more powerful (CPU etc). I guess it could drive different / better injectors.
Ok, Now I understand the PanPag reference. For Clarity, thank you Cambo post from 2018, my 03 STR does not have the "PanPag" ECM.
If possible, I would like to replace my injectors with a "NEW" set of injectors that don't cost an arm and a leg, versus sending my used ones out and have them "cleaned/rebuilt." I am looking for high quality replacements in almost the same pressure/Ohm/flow such that I don't have to retune the ECU.
__________________________________________________ ________________
From Cambo post: [There are two types of engine ECU in the S-Type R depending on the model years.
VIN range M45255 to N52047, 2002.5MY to 2004.75MY
Uses the Denso 32-bit dual processor ECU, tuning options for this are very limited.
VIN range N52048-onward, 2006MY onward
Uses the Denso "PanPag" ECU same as later models like the X150 XK, the XF, etc
The PanPag is relatively easy to tune (can be done over the OBD port) the earlier ones are quite a pain, they can also be done however my understanding is that the injector size data is not freely available for that ECU, the guy who makes my tunes knows it, I don't think other tuners would have that information.]
Does anyone have that actual flow specifications for these injectors?
(I am finding many different flow stated about these, but I don't believe most of what I have reads to date.)
So what happened after all ? My XF SV8 has the orange injectors, but could they be replaced with the blue (coming out of Range Rover 4.2) without any hazzle ?
I purchased a set of OEM refurbished injectors. They are installed, but I didn't get the car completely back together before it started snowing, so the car is sitting until spring.
I gave up on trying to figure out alternative brands, or other substitutes that might work, in my car.
All of the "older" car BMW car guys, at least many of them, use Five0 Motorsports. They can rebuild and flow match yours or upgrade to a better injector if possible. Service is quick and prices are reasonable

I went over to this site looking for the Ford 6R83-AD for my '07 NA 4.2 XK. The one they advertise as Denso for the 4.2 engine isn't Denso. Looks like the Chinese knockoff version. Look closely at the photo they provide. Caveat Emptor. panthera
