hya all,about 2 years ago i was in tescos and my car would not come out of reverse,not thinking i forced it out of park and straght away i knew id damaged something cos from then on to engage drive i had to pull the gear lever as far as it would go,reverse also was a lot slower 2 engage,,well its lasted quite well considering i suppose,,anyway its got realy bad over the last cople o weeks i have to pull off in second gear then third but the moment i engage drive the gearbox fault sing comes up,,and now i have lost reverse completly???and yester day tried to adjust the cable under the console by the book and didnt get any responce from it at all realy,,its still the same as it was ,,and i cant find the cable under the car to check that if i can..i know my motor is old but it has just been the best,and im praying it aint the gearbox ..any sugestions would help so much,,many thanks,,johnynojag

I've always found that shopping at Sainsbury's or Asda will avoid this.

Sounds like you damaged the cable and/or attachment points. My own car has a different gearbox but believe I've read here about similar events as yours.

 

i wont be shopping there no moore ,,would you know where i can see the cable to check it ??cheers mate.j
