Hey all,

so I just bought the 2003 jag str. Had it for 3 days and put 300 miles on it (bought it in Ohio and I live in Michigan) 79,300 miles. Everything ran perfect until… I was sitting stopped at a red light. Had it in gear 2 of the j gate sport mode on getting ready to punch it. When I hit the gas it gave me a GEARBOX FAULT on the dash and the car seem to go into a limp mode. I was able to get it to 35mph to get it home but I had to like floor the peddle. Car wouldn’t go into reverse either when I got it home. When I tried to take it to the dealership the car wouldn’t even get 5mph with me beating on it. Ended up getting it towed. It was throwing a bunch of gear codes but my techs didn’t take anything apart. We checked for gear oil which there was (don’t know if I just need a flush) or if it might be something just electrical. But my they think my transmission went out. Called 25 places. No one wants to diagnose it. Could it be anything other than the transmission? Or am I just completely screwed? Car starts fine. When I go into reverse the reverse lights come on. It seems like the car changes gears. But when I press the gas the car just revs. No matter what gear I’m in. Please help.

 

Has anyone connected to the PCM through the OBD port to see what DTCs are stored? List them here for help.
