Good lawd another problem RESOLVED
You did, where? I will get the code tomorrow.
Diamondrmp, I share your opinion that JTIS and JEPC, although free, do not go beyond 2004 and are tough to go through unless you have experience with that type of research. In spite of oft-received advice to check JTIS or JPEC, I have not had a whole lot of success when I go there.
Quite recently, someone on this forum told me about this:
2003 2008 Jaguar s Type X200 Workshop Repair Service Manual on CD | eBay
Landed cost from the UK just over $11, incredible value. Everything well laid out, easy to use.

This is a great example of the poor quality of Jaguar documentation.Assuming that your S-type has a VIN above M45255,the JEPC shows the fuel rail pressure sensor in the section called"S-Type/Air and Fuel Delivery Systems/Injectors and Pipes"The part is shown as item#6 and called "Transducer"
Then if you go to the service documentation, the section called Fuel Charging and Controls" this same part is referred to as the "fuel pressure regulator"
Then when you look at the diagnostic procedures in the same section there are references to "fuel pressure sensor"for DTCs P0171 and P0172.
Then when you get to P0191 to P0193 there is reference to "fuel rail pressure sensor"
Then as you proceed a few pages in the manual you come to a section titled"Fuel Injection Supply Manifold"
Here it tells you how to remove the "fuel pressure regulator"
My conclusion is that the terms "transducer, fuel pressure regulator and fuel rail pressure sensor" are used interchangeably in Jaguar "speak"The only other serviceable components attached to the fuel rail are fuel injectors and a temperature sensor.
Anyway I can understand why forum members are frustrated by advice suggesting that they look at JTIS or JEPC without any reference to a specific page number or section title.(it matters not whether the responder is paid, since the objective is to help each other!)

Sorry if I was not clear but I linked a thread about the fuel pressure regulator and how to troubleshoot it, how to fix it, where to get the part and the part numbers.

Thank you and I saw that tbird6 but, I am not having a loss of power. The car is not having any adverse driving conditions. The only problem is the check engine light is on.
However I will get the number code (which I should have done in the first place) today so that it will clear up any speculation.
Don't know if I'm posting in the right place, but the title, Good Lawd is appropriate! first post for my 02 S type,93000, was titled "Bad Start". Jaguar specialist diagnosis: needs transmission, two cat converters, two tires, bushings, ball joints, windshield washer jets . I want to be a part of you guys because I love my car(Hell Cat)but I am a poor single woman! Sticky, I need to win that prize!! A friend put the "Wup ***" I the dealer that sold it to me,so we'll see.Meanwhile, they gave me a Ford Focus!! Boo Yah......
As you have read the only way to play the Jaguar game is to DIY your car repairs.
This list is great because we can all throw our bits of knowledge together to figure out the problems.
You will always be broke if you take the car to a dealer. It's just too expensive to pay parts and labor for such an old car!

Well hells bells.....I get in Victoria to drive to an interview for a transfer into a new department. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!! WTH??? So I drive the 35 miles and nail the interview starting a new job with the same company in 2 weeks! WOOHOO!!
First check engine light is off, next I get the new job! Man I'm having a good day.
Since the check engine light is off, heading to the dealer to hook up the scanner is a waste of time, so I head home. Half way home the little check engine light comes on! bugger!!
I'm buying a scanner this week and handle this business myself!

Your government passed laws about how the light must behave, which car makers including Jaguar follow.
The code(s) will still be there. The fault has stopped being present often enough to put the MIL on.

Ahhhhh i did not know that...thank you.
You can get the codes read and cleared at any parts store.
Go ahead and get a scanner you won't br sorry but don't delay in getting the codes. You have already had a number of days go by when others could be thinking about your problem.

The check engine light has been off all day and I did about 80 miles, highway and street, including turning the engine off for stops. I did stop at the dealer and the codes are P1000 and I know I'm a dork, either P1193 or P1093 I think its 1093.
I thought I saw a list of codes somewhere here on the forums but can't seem to remember where.

You want the codes PDF which is in the stickies and in JTIS.
You really ought to have P1111 not P1000 by now -- read the first 10 or so pages of the codes PDF to see what this is about. After that see if you can suggest why / provide info why you don't have P1111. It matters to your car!!
Just read the code again to get the correct value, you're sunk without it. You're saving $$$ if you DIY but need to do it right!

I agree have the code read again and may I suggest that you write the code down as you are having it read. Go to your local parts store and get them to do it most of the time it is FREE!!!

Hey guys I am currently bidding on a scanner on ebay so I'll have one soon. In the mean time no check engine light for 2 days.
Here is something I was thinking caused it but wasn't sure. Now in another thread I read a problem someone is having and one responder hinted towards bad gas. Now at the advice of a local shop I have been running mid grade gas. When the trouble light came on I first checked the gas cap. Then I decided to run all the mid grade fuel out. Since I filled up with premium the light has been out. Could that be the culprit?

Well the light is intermittent now. I went 2 days with no light at all. This morning it was on when I started for the day. I made a stop for a part and when I started her back up it was off. I had 2 or 3 times today when I had to stop and shut her off and when I started the light would be on or off. My last start up for the night was to come home from work and no light.
I should have my OBD scanner in a couple of days so I can give you guys better information.

I come home from work last night and a box is on my desk with my brand new Actron CP9580!
I felt like a kid a Christmas and wanted to go straight outside and play with my new toy but I decided to get a good nights sleep and do it this morning.
First this scanner is easy and great to use. Also in parts stores this scanner is $200.00+. On eBay I got it brand new for $98.00 shipped. There were less expensive ones but this one is brand new with warranty and free return.
Ok down to business. These are the codes and the definitions. Each one had a $11.00 sign next to them. Is that the average cost to fix it?
P0193
Fuel Pressure
Sensor A circuit
High Input
P1000
No DTC definition found
See service manual pending
