Has anyone mapped out the wiring harness on a S-type?
I know the wiring diagrams show a crude depiction of the wiring harnesses on an S Type and yes it shows general locations for connectors and grounds but its really crude and general and it still takes me a ling time to figure out what is what and what goes where.
for instance it would be nice to know, in one diagram, what the ends of a connector attach to whether it be another harness or a part. And where it actually routes like over the engine or across the bumper or through the wheel well etc.
I know im asking for a lot but it seems I spend a tone of time trying to visually find or physically feel where a particular harness goes when it disappears into the cluster of hoses, metal, and other crap stuffed in our cars. Things are so hard to trace I also get frustrated because I cant see something or cant get my hands in there to trace something looking for where a connector might be corroded or wire routed.
yesterday I spent hours in the heat trying to trace the PI41 harness that goes everywhere from the AC compressor over by the right side firewall and Pcm then around the wheel well up to the headlight and over to the fuse block.
its obvious someone has been in there before (probably from an accident repair) and most of the harnesses and connectors arent back where they were originally so while im tracking down a problem im always playing the “find where this is and where it should be” game. I like things in their right locations to prevent wires chaffing or vibrating which causes problems with shorting and breaking.
anyways anyone have anything like that? Or maybe pictures of the connectors with layout detail for where pin 1 is would be helpful. Seems I gotta either guess or test or unwrap and dissaemble connectors and harness to find a particular simgle and theres no room in most places to do any troubleshooting. Its hard getting my hands in there with meter probes and shine a light at the same time. Anything that helps helps if you know what I mean. Im constantly making notes on drawings so I figure maybe someone else has done it too

btw I have the workshop service manual converted to pdf which is great but its over 3000 pages and not easily searched. but it does help show what connectors look like. and I have the electrical diagram pdf. I wish there was some way to click on a signal and it show all its connections instead of giving a number that you have to search for and which may show a ton of unrelated instances of that term throughout the doc.
You gotta remember, by the time I need this im dirty, sweaty, frustrated, my hands are sure and cut and im pissed because I cant find something or Ive dropped everything a 1000 times. lol
