Have you tried this tiny blue ELM327 unit? Smaller than the regular one.
I was about to buy a bluetooth ELM327 unit, the one that's very common you see all over ebay.

Then I noticed this smaller one, about half the length. I'd much prefer to have a smaller one so I don't break it as it protrudes from under the dash.

Has anyone used that little blue one? I plan on using it to log to my Android phone via Bluetooth. I will get the bigger one if I cant find anyone that can vouch for the smaller one.

bluetooth ELM327 is the newly developed wireless scan tool. It supports all OBD-II protocols
• Works with all OBD-II compliant vehicles
• Wireless (Bluetooth)
• Software included for Palm, PDA
• Software included for Windows PC
• Software included for Windows Smartphone
• Supports ISO 9141, KWP2000
• Supports SAE J1850
• Supports CAN bus
I am going to use it with this Android app so I can use my phone to receive the bluetooth signal: Torque
Work on 1996 or newer OBD 2 / EOBD / JOBD compliant cars and trucks, and is based on the ELM327 chip which autodetects all OBDII protocols:
SAE J1850 PWM (41.6 kbaud)
SAE J1850 VPW (10.4 kbaud)
ISO 9141-2 (5 baud init, 10.4 kbaud)
ISO 14230-4 KWP (5 baud init, 10.4 kbaud)
ISO 14230-4 KWP (fast init, 10.4 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 500 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 500 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (11 bit ID, 250 kbaud)
ISO 15765-4 CAN (29 bit ID, 250 kbaud)
Is there an Iphone App that is compatible with this bluetooth OBD2 scanner "ELM327"??? By the way whats the part# for the tiny blue Elm scanner? Thanks.

As far as the part number for the little blue ELM327 Bluetooth unit, Let me check ebay (that's where I saw it). I see there are some small orange ones now too. I'll link those. The vast majority are the larger units I showed in the OP.
ELM327 Bluetooth OBD-II Transceiver Dongle And Software
New ELM327 Bluetooth OBD-II Wireless Transceiver Dongle
WIRELESS BLUETOOTH ELM 327 CAN PC INTERFACE OBDII OBD 2
None of those appear to have a part number. And the orange one is just far too expensive ($113) for me to justify over the cost of a big unit ($25). I'd pay $50 for a smaller one vs the $25 big one, but not $113.
They probably work but I guess you'd have to try one. I have the USB elm327 (didn't want a Bluetooth one) and it does the generic OBD stuff OK. I paid £11 incl delivery - about $17 - recently for one (took about 2 weeks to arrive).
I just want to report back for those that are looking for a small, ELM327 Bluetooth OBD-II Transceiver that the little blue one I posted above works beautifully. I really wanted something tiny, with no dongle, that I could leave plugged in all the time. It connects to TORQUE, a $5 app from the Android App Store and I get all fault and status codes as well as any other live data it can capture from the car's computer.

WiFi, Bluetooth or USB? (I'm guessing BT but let's be sure.)
What device are you using it with?
Which software?

Which software?
What actual software? That will be where the fault is.
Almost for sure your car, like mine, will have the PCM on ISO-9141 (& also on CAN but that's a bit special in this case).
You can see it on part 20 of the Electrical Guide.

Try torque
There are lots - just keep going till you get one that gets it right. The problem is that some of the apps are a bit clueless and make wrong assumptions. Given their price, they're good but to some extent the price is the ... giveaway.
