Having serious problem with battery!
I've noticed that if my car sits without a start-up for about 14-16 hours the battery will be completely dead. I have no problems starting up the car other wise. I thought the problem was with some led lights I had installed in place of the front park lights, but I just had them taken out and I'm still having the same problem. Does anybody know what the cause of this sudden battery drain is?? I'm trying to avoid going to the ***********. This started about 2 weeks ago.
PS. I had the battery tested and the battery shows that it's weak but does not need to be replaced. (Accordind to the guy who tested at auto zone).
2000 s-type 4.0.

Does it have anything to do with cold weather? My XJ6 would be hard to start when it got pretty cold outside after sitting for awhile but was fine normally. I replaced the battery and no more problems. If yours shows to be weak then maybe that's it!
I though that had something to do with it. I hope it is. I didn't really want to buy a new battery if there was some other reason for the drain. Does anyone know of a good battery for these cars?
I just bought one last month. Best thing you can do is try to fit the biggest battery, as possible, in it's place. I went down to Walmart and purchased the biggest battery they had and called it a day. I didn't want to go through the hasssle of having to order the battery since our Jags require an unususally long battery.
If you are thinking to yourself thid guy can afford a Jag but can't afford a decent you would be foolish: can anyone guess who makes theWalmart 'brand' batteries for about half the price of their name?

Momo, what made you buy a new battery? Were you having the same problemI'm having? You would think that it would struggle and not start up before it would just go completely dead. Did yours do the same thing? I'm just trying to rule out every other possibility. + Who makes those walmart batteries?
Basically yes, I had not moved the car in two weeks and when I would let it sit, I would need to give it a jump. Don't forget our cars have everything powered so it eats up alot of juice. Power seats, mirrors, windows, moon roof, steering, adjustable pedals/steering wheel not to mention the audio system and the other eletronic gadets the car has.

Measure your battery because the one in the Jags are long, tall, and thin. Not any battery will fit in its place. Just remember in this case bigger is better.
I was at Walmart the other day and checked their battery application book just for yucks. No listing for my X-type, but they actually had the battery in stock for the S-type and it was really inexpensive (< $60 IRC). The S-type battery is designed to vent externally through a tube, apparantly to accomodate mounting in a box in the trunk. I wouldn't use anything else.
There is basically two batteries that you can choose from and one is a lilttle bit more expenseive, so that pretty much narrows it down to the more expensive battery. Mine is yellow. If they have the correct size they will do the install for free.
i would get a amperage gauge and see if your car has a draw which s type are notorious for spec for parasitic draw is.040 milliamps
can be easy to diagnose and also can be challenging ..

I checked Walmart last night. Nothing in stock for the S-type. I'm preety glad about that because the batteries they had looked like some no frills batteries. I'm going to check Autozone today.
