I read as much as I could about replacing headlight bulbs. Most of what I read says you have to take down the bumper, so since my bumper is down now (see below) I thought this would be the perfect time to replace my headlight bulbs. With that said, reading the owner's manual this morning it shows a very easy way to replace the headlight bulbs (they call it bulb renewal on the manual). My car comes with standard halogen lights. If I want to go to a whiter light, do I have to go HID? And if so, is it just a simple plug and play exchange or do I have to do more involved stuff (I read something on a thread about having to run wires, etc.). I'm not looking for anything other than a whiter, brighter light than the yellowish lights I have right now.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!
Also, my car's fog lights are in horrible shape (years of yard sprinkler water hitting them) and the passenger side is burnt. I saw aftermarket replacements on fleabay for $25. Here's the listing. Will these work?
Thanks!
Jose
PS, you may have noticed I've become more active on the forum. That's because I finally got my car! :-) I know a new car thread is worth nothing without pics, but my car is in the body shop getting a few minor cosmetic things fixed. I'm hoping to get it back next week. As soon as I do, I'll be sure to post a ton of pics. In the meantime, here's a tease!!
My understanding is the hardship is with the projector bulbs not the halogen versions. (mine has projectors and there is NO WAY to change them w/o dropping the bumper face)
With halogen's there are a lot of options that are plug and play. I suggest something in the 5000-6000k range for color. I've used the Sylvania SilverStar on other cars and was very pleased with the brightness, color, and low cost.
Can't speak to the fogs... and your link doesn't work.
If you have the big bumper cover off, look at everything that is exposed....might even do a pressure test on the radiator.....look for any oil seepage at the air con connections and any wiring chafes or loom breaks
Awesome thanks! I ordered Sylvania SilverStar zXe H7. The Sylvania website claims it offers much whiter light, similar to HID. I'll let you guys know how it goes!
On the fog lights, the seller is out of stock so he took the listing down. I'll circle back to those when they come back online.
Scott, the car was just serviced a couple of weeks before I bought it. It actually had a leak that they fixed. But, good thinking! I'm going to swing by the body shop and take a look around.
Hi guys, I just wanted to circle back and update this thread. I ended up installing Sylvania SilverStar zXe on the headlights (H7) and fog lights (H11). They were plug and play and they work AMAZING! Sylvania claims "HID attitude." I wouldn't go that far, but the performance is definitely white and bright! Here's a pic:

Word of warning. Those silverstars burn hotter and die quicker. I had a pair go out just over a year. Right after the warranty expired. Never again. Well now I have HIDs but you know
