Default RE: headlight sensors part of assembly?

The self leveling motor is built into the headlight assembly. When I took my headlights apart I tried removing the motor just for the heck of it, I was only able to remove the back part of motor, but inside the headlight there is a pin that is probably glued onto the housing. I didn't mess with it too much as I didn't want to break it.If you look at top part of the chrome housing that is where the motor is located. In the second pic you can see back side outside of the motor housing, that was the part that I was able to remove. I think I have better, more detailed pics, in my camera, which is my house, and of course I'm at work. I check mycameraand post the pics, if I have them.

I was reading your post, in another thread, and to be honest I don't think that you really need the self leveling motor feature. I mean it's acool function and all, but unlessyou drive up or down hill most of the time while driving; you can the aim your headlights manually via the screws located on the back. How much are they asking for the motors anyway?

Default Headlight Sensors

No, You have the classic headlight flop. BRUTAL has a nifty fix for it that solves the problem in most cases.
I know this is an old thread but for future readers it might be helpful ymmv

And also the motors are needed to make the HID system legal through DOT. The HIDs are supposed to level as you go up and down hills over bumps etc. Thats why aftermarket kits are not DOT approved most if not all dont come with the leveling feature.
And you are correct about if they are drooped then they can do the fix Brutal suggests.

hey guys i saw a couple of you had responded to my old thread while looking through recent ones myself.

another thread is tarted on that topic.

I wanted to say i originally started this topic because my headlights did not level when i got the car. I got my dealer to warranty replace the headlights if I would agree to pay for the sensors (extended doesnt cover either i dont think) anyways i did it!

thanks!
