Default HELP: Upper Intake 2001 Jaguar S type

Hey guys, I have diagnosed that I have in fact a vacuum leak, coming from either the upper intake or that oil separator elbow. None the less, I was thinking of tackling this job, however the gaskets here are 30 dollars a piece. With that being said, I wanted some feedback on what I was thinking of doing. I wanna use products such as Form a Gasket (TM) instead of the actual gaskets, because it will save me a lot of money, and my budget at the moment is very tight. What do you guys think about this? Any feedback will be appreciated, be harsh, mean, nice, or polite, I will not be offended.
Thank you

That's what I did. The gaskets are really soft fat rubber donuts and seal very easily. You actually need two sets, one for the plenum to the so-called intake manifold, and one from the manifold to the block. I had the incorrect ones so I just went with the sealant. Be aware that sometimes the bolts are corroded and it can twist the nuts out of the manifold as it is only plastic. I used JB weld when reassembling the two that pulled out, but don't torque those ones tight as it might just pop them out again. Half of the bolts go right to the block, half just into the plastic (figgers).

Maybe buy the gaskets over the net and they may be much cheaper.

There is a Ford equivalent parts section that is set out in the forum by Androulakas that cross references Ford/Jaguar parts that makes part choices less expensive.

Post 1 on this link will give both Jag/Ford part numbers.

Some links with prices.

Amazon.com: Fel-Pro MS96485 Intake Manifold Gasket Se: Automotive Amazon.com: Fel-Pro MS96485 Intake Manifold Gasket Se: Automotive

This is a single unit price not for a set.

I have to watch what I spend as well. So this may help you.

Hmmm, I even believe that there is a "How To" here that goes into great depth about replacing said seals, hoses and more, even has inexpensive aftermarket parts with prices listed. Even has some beautiful color pictures of the whole procedure to boot!

Hmmmm
