Default HID Conversion Kit

Iam looking for a good converstion kit for my jaguar s-type. I was wondering if the best would be a 8000K H7 bulb or could 10000K fit in the jaguar s-type?

Thanks would also like a imput on the converstion kit if anyone ever used one or installed it

Sultan let me educate you a little bit first; H7 is a type of light bulb. K or kelvin is what is used to measure the light temperature. Lumens measure the light brightness. The higher you go in kelvin, the less light and lumens you'll have. 4100-4300k is gold standard and is used in OEM HID equipped auto manufactures. It has the most lumens out of all the HID bulbs produced. It produces near to the suns same kelvin thus giving you daylight-like output. IMHO, basically anything over 6000k is a waste.

However if you want to do it right, you wont just slap in a set of HID’s and call it a day. Unless your caris already equipped with projectors? Othewise you should do a retrofit.

What year is your car?

It's a 2004. I was actually thinking about getting the 8000K I really like the color of the lights and the way it looks in the dark. Would this installation be easy for me to do myself or would I have to pay someone to do this?

Here check it out I was thinking about buying this one

Hi
I use the Xetronic Digital Lighting System HID 6000K.
Xtralights.com
This system is alittle more money, but it all digital.
I am very pleased with the system. I think with HID systems you get what you pay for.
Regards

I have never seen such an inexpensive kit. As the old saying goes, you get what you paid for. However, the seller has good feedback, so who knows if they will stand the test of time? They usually cost@ $200. Here in Cali you will get pulled over for having blue headlights.

As far the install goes, its pretty straight forward and you should be able to do it on your own.

Go with tints first, but that's my opinion!

Oh boy bacardi, I guess you're a newbie to cars all together! It's all right though mate. We all have to learn sometime! Tinted windows are windows with a clear laminate that comes in different shades of darkness to make it more difficult to see inside or to keep the sun rays out! The lower the percentage, the less light that goes through, therefore they are the hardest to see through. 28% is the legal limit, and 5% are limo tints! I personally, have 15% on the S-type, but 3% on the Nissan 240sx!

These overlays will diminish the light output, depending on thepercentage of the tint.

Michigan, the tint level here is 35% but only the upper half of the driver side and passanger side windows are allowed to be tinted. But iam going to do the full window 35%... doesn't really matter to me.

Hey sultan you could spray paint the rear windows altogether if you wanted...there is no limit as far as the fronts either it can only be 6" fromt he top...I'd recommend going 20% all the way around...it also depends on what color your car is...a black car with 20% all the way around is going to get pulled over. Here in Michigan the new way of the law is you can have whatever tint you want but you are going to get a ticket...now it is not a fix it ticket you either take the tint off or don't but it will cost you 150 per time of being pulled over. Police will tell you that they will keep pulling you over if you keep it on or take it off and go have it put back on ( most tint places will reapply the front tint if you remove to get the cop off of your back which is why michigan changed it to a 150 fine everytime no matter what you do with the tint!) Here's a pic of my buddies bonneville with 20% all the way around...

Hid in regular headlights no prjector...

Oh yeah 8000k may look sweet but they really are useless when it comes to lighting the night up which is generally the use of headlights! 4-6k is the best compromise....

BTW here is my x with 50% tint all the way around...not very dark at all but it does add some privacy but not much...the car came with it I would have went darker if I would have had them done initially...
