Default Hissing noise in manifold area v6 3.0...

Can anyone tell me what this part it... its the round black part that is on the passenger side of the car on the intake. It is hissing, and when I put pressure on it it hisses even more. Is this normal? I was thinking it was the egr? not to familiar with this engine just yet. This is s-type 02 3.0 v6 engine. thanks guys...

Grab JTIS (or JEPC) to get diagrams. Or post a pic. Possibly there is a pic already in the HowTos.

I'd guess PCV valve. No it shouldn't hiss.

da,

Read the attached link carefully, especially the first paragraph. I know its pictures of a 2005 3.0 but it may help you tell us what is hissing.

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ics-faq-52720/

IF its not in my pictures click this link of a 2000, 3.0 it has pictures too, that may help us help you.

JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

I realize the above links are NOT exact to your engine but as I recall I have not seen a picture of a 2002, 3.0 posted here.

That is your IMT Valve. Note there are 2 of them, one on the backside of the intake as well.

Inside this link below are instructions and part numbers that you will need to replace the IMT "O-rings". Again its from a 2005 but you can modify the write up to suit your model year.

For the backside IMT, you do not have to remove the entire valve, loosen the 2- 8mm bolts enough to pull the valve out of the intake, cut the old O-ring off, slide new GREEN O-ring on, tighten the 2- 8mm bolts.

I would assume so, but you know what happens, right?

No really I am unsure if the 2000 MYs have them or not.

I believe all the S-Types have them. Check the various docs (owner handbook / JTIS) to be sure.

Yes. All Lincoln LS and Jaguar S Types have cabin filters. There are two styles depending on the year. Be sure and get the correct one. One is just rectangular and the other has one corner cut at an angle. Try not to break the plastic clips on the filter box door. It's a bit tight to get it in and out.

just did the 2 gaskets on the imt valve, but on the rear gasket on the valve, one of the screws is leaking oil around it. What could I do to fix that? other than that the hissing noise is gone.

The new IMT seal should have corrected the dripping bolt problem. If not then pull it out and put a dab of silicone sealant on the threads and tighten it back up.
